Litigation

Our broad based litigation practice includes the prosecution and defense of matters on behalf of partnerships, corporations, significant lenders, real estate developers and individuals before State and Federal courts, as well as government, regulatory and enforcement agencies. Experience has brought us a broad realm of cases including all types of business and real estate litigation, Article 78 Proceedings, general corporate work, partnership disputes, lender liability litigation, corporate dissolutions and class and derivative suits.

We regularly advise and counsel clients as to the cost benefits, time frame and merits of litigation versus potential settlement. We also closely monitor matters and advise our clients as to the choices of equitable and legal remedies available to them.

Appeals

Litigation is not always resolved at the trial level and, sometimes, cases must be appealed to challenge a decision of the lower court.  Our attorneys are well-versed in appeals that cover a wide array of substantive legal areas and often involve novel legal theories, significant sums of money, or unsettled legal issues.

The firm’s attorneys have successfully pursued or defended numerous appeals in federal and state appellate courts, and possess the requisite experience and sophisticated brief writing and oral advocacy skills to handle appeals on behalf of our clients.

Civil Rights and Constitutional Law

The United States Constitution and a number of federal, state and local laws prohibit governmental agencies, public officials, law enforcement, businesses, and employers from discriminating on the basis of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.  Individuals have a right to be free from arbitrary and capricious action by government, and the firm represents those whose civil rights, including freedom of speech, religion and association, and the rights to privacy, equal protection and due process, have been infringed upon.  In addition, lawsuits are often filed challenging the constitutionality of federal and state statutes and local law.

The firm’s attorneys have successfully handled, and are passionate about, civil rights litigation, and have the necessary experience and skill to represent clients in matters involving constitutional law.
